How To: Pick The Right Bivo For You!

January 22nd, 2026 | by Caitlin Boyarsky

As the head of customer service, I often get questions from customers who are looking to upgrade their setup to a stainless steel water bottle but they’re unsure which bottle will be the right one for them. When it comes to our favorite pieces of technical gear, our choices are very personal. The “best” may look very different to different types of people because, well, people are different! What works for one person may not work for another and it's important to keep this in mind when searching for the perfect Bivo for you.

To make the decision easier, I’ve created a comprehensive guide with all of the highlights of each bottle. All of the styles serve a purpose, so keep reading to learn a little bit more about each type of Bivo and what makes it so special!

Bivo One 21 oz

Bivo One 21 oz

The Bivo One came first (hence the name) so it holds a special place in our hearts. Measuring only 8.5 inches tall, it's the most compact Bivo, perfect for fitting in small places like small bike frames or running belts. Where it really shines though- weight. This bottle is the lightest of all of the models. Due to the single-layer of metal, they’re non-insulated and perfect for more mild climates where the temperature of your water isn’t going to make-or-break your ride.

This bottle is great for the cyclist who values a truly lightweight setup and maybe doesn’t need a giant 64 oz water bottle for a short rip around town. They’re also super versatile and can be used for other sports like running and nordic skiing! If you ask our events person Lily, they’re the cutest bottles in our lineup. And we agree! Who doesn’t want a cute bottle?

Bivo Duo 25 oz

Bivo Duo 25 oz

The Bivo Duo has all of the same amazing benefits as the Bivo One but can carry slightly more water (4 oz more). We always hear that people drink more water because of our bottles so having more water can’t hurt. If you’re a thirsty cyclist or athlete that still wants something lightweight, the Duo is for you! The Duo is our largest capacity bottle at 25 oz. For reference, that’s almost a full bottle of wine ;)

We also think the Duo is the sleekest looking Bivo. The shape and size make it a sophisticated and stylish accessory for your bike.

Bivo Trio 21 oz

Bivo Trio 21 oz

Looking to keep your water cool and refreshing? The Bivo Trio changes the game with over 12 hours of insulation! This bottle is perfect for places with true heat. (Arizona and Texas we’re looking at you.) And for those of us that experience 4 seasons, when the weather starts to cool, swap out your favorite cold drink for something warmer like tea or coffee and they’ll stay nice and toasty. Yummm!

We offer two sizes for the Trio, the 21 oz being the largest one. It's slightly heavier than our non-insulated bottles but for a little more weight you get the luxury of insulation.

Bivo Trio 17 oz

Bivo Trio 17 oz

Last but certainly not least, the best of both worlds, the Trio 17 oz. Compact enough to take along on every adventure but with the benefit of insulation! This bottle is short in height, a tiny bit taller than the Bivo One, so it is super versatile for those smaller spaces like the seat tube bottle cage on your bike.

We originally made this because we heard from some mountain bikers with small frames that they wanted insulated water, but the Trio 21 oz was too tall for their bike, thus the 17 oz Trio was born! If warm liquids are your thing, we also think the Trio 17 oz is the perfect size for a warm cup of coffee or tea.

Hey Julie! Thanks for writing! So happy you love the insulation on your bottles and flow rate :) And drinking more water on your rides is such a plus. Thanks for letting me know your blue bottle’s coating has been worn down. This certainly can happen to people who ride a lot and cage type can make a difference! But I’m sorry if you’re disappointed with how it looks. Which cages have you tried? I’d be curious to know if you know the models. Thanks for continuing to recommend Bivo to friends. We really, truly appreciate your support :) Cheers, Keaton at Bivo

I am very happy the way the insulated bottles keeps water/liquids cold on hot days. The straw on the inside causes the liquids to flow, think drink rather than sucking out the water. Consequently I drink more water on rides than with plastic bottles and water does not have that plasticky taste. Great product. I have the insulated bottles in blue which has almost completely worn off due to use. Even special cages have not helped keep the blue material on the steel bottle. Having said that, I still like the Bivos and recommend/give as gifts. Just be aware the colored substance rubs off. Will order the stainless next time I need bottles.
