December 18th, 2025 | by Charlotte Ogden
The snow just keeps falling here at Bivo HQ, and the skiing has been better than any December in my recent memory! We have all been getting out and Nordic skiing one way or another, whether it's under the lights after work, an early dawn mission to ski as many trails as possible before clocking in for the day, or a leisurely jaunt around Trapps on the weekend. Another activity that has been dominating my time these days is tuning into the FIS Nordic World Cup and the IBU Biathlon World Cup.
For the past few weeks, all of our Bivo athletes have been toeing the line every weekend and laying it all out there on the course. My recent Friday and weekend mornings have been defined by waking up early to watch the livestreams and checking the race results before my eyes are even fully open.
I’m guessing that not everyone has been as locked in on the racing as I have, so I thought that I would share a little update on our three favorite athletes Julia Kern, Chloe Levins, and Ben Ogden to hear what they have been getting up to across the pond. Check out our fun collaboration bottles we created with them and read about their race season is going so far!

The last time we saw them all was at our athlete send-off run club event in November!

Ben Ogden and Julia Kern both started their winters far above the Arctic Circle in Muonio, Finland. From there, they travelled south to Ruka, Finland and opened up Period 1 of the World Cup. After a sprint, a 10 kilometer race, and a 20k one, they headed even further south to Trondheim, Norway where they were met with more racing. Trondheim brought them another sprint, a skiathlon (where you ski 10k classic and 10k skate), and another 10k race. Trondheim delivered some excellent sprint qualifications (Ben placed 1st in the qualifier!) and some even faster heats. From there, they moved even further south to Davos, Switzerland where they finally got to feel the sun's rays on their faces again. In the Davos sprint, Julia sped herself to 13th place in the qualifier, and ended up 16th after the heats. Ben ended up 2nd after the qualifier, and, along with fellow Vermonter Jack Young, raced himself into the finals and took home 5th for the day. Now, onto a sunny holiday break in Davos, and racing will continue December 28th in Toblach, Italy to kick off the Tour De Ski! The schedule and live results are all available on fis-ski.com/cross-country.
Chloe Levins has been racing every weekend as well at the BMW IBU World Cup, where she started in Oestersund, Sweden for a full week of racing, kicked off by a groundbreaking 6th place result in the mixed relay - the highest result for US Biathlon since 2021! After that, Chloe travelled to Hochfilzen, Austria, where she flexed her 89% accuracy shooting skills. She’s currently in Le Grand Bornand, France, and is racing in the 7.5k sprint today! Tune in at biathlonworld.com to see the results from today’s race!

Ben gave us some insight into how he's been passing his time, telling us that "The first period of the World Cup is over and It has been a fantastic one! Despite some ups and downs, I have been happy with the racing! More importantly though I have been thrilled with my ability to entertain myself in the down time. It is tempting to look at your phone or computer all the time when your not training or racing but this year I made a distinct goal to refrain from that. You will see that my whittling and knitting efforts are coming along! Always with my trusty bivo, keeping hydrated and ensuring ideal recovery."

We caught up with Julia quickly yesterday, and she shared some pictures from making life on the road homey and told us that “The start of the season has felt fast, with the weekends zooming by while the results are a little slow to follow. However, life on the road this year has been fun, filled with mini adventures through European cities, baking night time mug cakes, and chasing the little sun there is in the north!”

Chloe described her first few weeks to us, telling us that "The first couple weeks of December in northern Scandinavia called on us to truly lean into hygge energy. Since arriving in Austria last week, we’ve been greeted with sun and warmth in the gorgeous alps. Results have remained consistent and I’m knocking on the door of something great—looking for that door to open this weekend in Annecy/Le Grand Bronand, France!"
