What We've Been Up To: In Europe, the UK, and Japan!

November 20th, 2025 | by Caitlin Boyarsky

Wow, this week has been a busy one for us at Bivo! A lot has been happening at Bivo HQ, or should I say not at Bivo HQ...We’re so excited to finally be expanding our business to other parts of the globe including the EU, UK, and Japan!

Each of these places has been a dream for us to be a part of and we’re so happy the day is finally here. There was a lot that needed to happen before we could launch Bivo Internationally, and we’re so thankful for the amazing connections we’ve made with our distributors and partners. We truly couldn’t do it without them! We wanted to share a little bit about our expansion lately, and share some highlights with you all from the past week.

Japan - Amazing Team + Gorgeous Displays!

Japan is undeniably cool. Their attention to detail and design rivals the very best in the world. Their standards for quality are also much higher than other places meaning it can be difficult to sell your products there successfully unless you meet these requirements and build good personal connections. It's like a special club to be a part of.

When we found out there was a shop in Japan that wanted to sell our bottles, we were ecstatic. Circles in Japan is a super cool bike shop that was interested in Bivo! The bottles have done super well for them and we realized there was a whole market to tap into in Japan. Bivo co-founder Robby was lucky enough to travel to Japan last winter to meet some awesome people and make some connections, with hopes that Bivo could be sold across Japan. Here are a few words from his successful time there:

I’ve always loved traveling. Breaking out of your daily routine, diving into a new culture, meeting people whose lives look different but feel familiar … that experience is endlessly fascinating to me. It’s a privilege I’ll never take for granted. For most of Bivo’s life, international travel wasn’t really part of the job. So when the idea of exploring Bivo in Japan surfaced, I was all in.

Last year I spent ten unforgettable days zig-zagging across Japan by train. The goal was simple: learn, meet our (at the time) one incredible retailer, Circles, and talk with distributors and key shops to see if Bivo would truly resonate. I could write pages about how welcomed we felt and how much genuine excitement there was around what we’re building. It was energizing to travel so far and still feel the same spark that drives us at home.

One year later, we have an amazing distributor partner, a DTC site live, and Bivo bottles on shelves in 174 Xebio stores across Japan. But the best part, by far, has been the people who’ve helped bring this to life and getting to know them in person and from afar. I can’t wait to get back there again, soon! Let’s go, Japan! - Robby

Europe - Dreams Coming True!

Oh Europe, how we love you! Espresso, fresh pasta, gorgeous mountain chalets, what's not to love? Bivo co-founder Carina spent one year there as a teenager in Norway and that changed her perspective of the world from a young age. We look up to Europe in many ways, including having our product meet European chemical testing standards, which are higher than the US ones. To say this has been a dream come true is an understatement.

We have been asked ever since launching our bottles in the US when we would make the move across the Atlantic, and it’s finally time. We officially have an EU site, and have already started shipping out orders! Carina shares some words about her time in Europe last summer, making the connections for our bottles to finally be sold there.

Expanding Bivo into Europe is more than a business milestone, it’s the realization of a dream years in the making. My love for Europe began at sixteen, when Norway became my home for a year to ski race abroad and taught me the value of culture, connection, and doing things the right way.

Ever since, Europe has felt like a place where I’ve grown, learned, and been inspired. From early press mentions to countless messages asking when Bivo would arrive, we’ve felt the pull from day one. Five years after launching in the U.S., and after a whirlwind spring traveling through the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, France, and the U.K., it’s finally happening. Bringing Bivo here feels both deeply personal and incredibly exciting - Carina

Operations lead Sam in Amsterdam at the warehouse we ship from! Sam spent the week with the team right up until we launched our EU website. We also included a little taste of Vermont, some maple syrup samples were added to the first batch of EU orders!

U.K. - Meeting Professional Cyclists + Showcasing The Bivo Flow!

When you think of cycling, how can you not think of the UK? Gorgeous scenic rides along the coast, bike lanes in bustling cities, so much rich history to explore. Cycling has been on the rise in the UK and we’re so excited to be a part of it!

Mark, Bivo’s creative director and Keaton, Bivo’s marketing specialist recently attended the Rouleur in London last weekend and had a blast. The event showcased some of the coolest, most innovative bike brands and we were happy to be among them :) With help from the amazing team at ZyroFisher, Bivo had a warm welcome to the UK. Read what Mark and Keaton had to say about the event!

We spent the weekend at an East London brewery that was founded in 1666 (and rejuvenated in the 19th century) for the amazing cycling event Rouleur!

Over 3 days, we saw hundreds of global brands and thousands of cycling-mad Londoners drop by to see the latest and greatest from the world of cycling. From Tour de France winners to Tour de France Artists and ‘round the world cyclists (like our friend Duncan Covey), we met amazing folks who were truly so welcoming.

We spent the days chatting with commuters and racers alike, showing off the Bivo flow more times than we can count :)

London was amazing. Breakfasts were sausage rolls and lunches were famous Brick Lane curries - we couldn’t get enough!! Of course, we enjoyed a pint from the brewery Rouleur was held at!

Thanks to our friends and local partners at ZyroFisher, we learned pretty quickly that we're in the right hands to get the Bivo word out into the cycling community in the UK. Thanks go to the team for all the wonderful introductions to the local world on wheels. - Mark & Keaton

All in all, we would say it was a pretty successful week. And if you were a part of it, thank you! Big things are coming for Bivo in the US and abroad this year and we feel like we have an amazing network of people with us helping our dreams come true.
