Why We Love Cycling Socks! Plus, a Suprise!

August 8th, 2024 | by Keaton Smith

Cyclists LOVE socks. But they are also very particular. I learned that the hard way when I showed up to a group ride years ago in my Nike ankle socks… dark times 😂

All of us at Bivo have strong opinions on how we like our socks (I always go for bright/neon socks because I appreciated the added visibility on the road). Sam loves tall socks because he says they’re more aerodynamic than bare legs (even shaved ones!). Caitlin always picks socks to match the color of her cycling water bottles.

We’ve been talking for so long about how we all need bright Bivo socks, so we finally got around to it and worked with DeFeet to make the perfect Bivo sock (tall enough and nice and bright)!

When our new socks arrived in the office, we all headed down to Lake Iroquois for a picnic lunch and a sock photoshoot. We hopped in the lake for some pictures and had such a blast, despite the out of control seaweed. Let’s just say the floor of Iroquoris is not a place you want to be rummaging around in, even with socks on!

A Fun Suprise! For the next 100 Bivo orders, we're tossing in a free pair of our cycling socks!

We wanted to share the sock fun with all of you, so we decided that we’d pop in a free pair of Bivo socks to the next 100 Bivo orders!!

For the next 100 people to order a Bivo, just add in your sock size into the order notes, and we’ll toss in a pair of brand new Bivo socks (that haven’t touched the bottom of Lake Iroquois, don’t worry!).

Thanks everyone and cheers to bright socks and having fun on bikes!

What started over post-ride whiskey became a global quest: Emily and Sunnie’s journey to ride 100 miles on every continent, from England’s countryside to Antarctica’s frozen extremes, all for a powerful cause.

Over the years we’ve heard all of the ideas on what to build, do, or change with Bivo. While it’s important to listen to these ideas, Bivo co-founder Carina touches on the importance of saying “no” and ruthless prioritization.

For Quench'd this week, we spoke with Flanders native David Desablance about the magic of cycling in the Flanders region between Belgium and France. Home to many famous races and cobble streets.
